The fire was started when a controlled burn got away and it threatened several houses. Firefighters fought it from the bottom of the hill up and from the top down. Engines were stationed to protect the houses and bulldozers were used to cut a fire break. The back fire was started and Firefighters kept it from jumping the fire break. The heat of the day made it a long hot job but the support units brought in cold water and relief for the tired Firefighters.
In the end no houses were damaged, no one was hurt and as little as possible of the forest was lost.
