On Sunday night, April 12, 2009 near midnight a car that had been parked in a driveway at about 5:00 that evening caught fire under the hood. The car was only feet from the house and had a Corvette parked next to it. A neighbor warned the owners of the fire and they moved the corvette away and got dry chem extinguisherand a garden hose to fight the fire. The home owner, a retired firefighter, knew how to use the hose to contain the fire. As Soddy-Daisy Fire Department arrived the fire was knocked down enough that they finished the job with the garden hose. The house was not damaged.
